  • Are People Just Lazy or Stupid?

Big rant from a boomer. I have come across more and more people who either don’t know how to do their job or they just don’t care and are lazy.

Case in point. I had switched my medications from Walmart to a delivery service provided by my healthcare insurance provider.

The first thing I had to do was give them a list of all my medications with doses and times. They took everything down or at least that is what I thought. This first call took approximately two hours to complete due to all the questions they had.

I was informed that it would take approximately two weeks before they would start shipping my medications to me. Well, I waited for over two weeks and then I received an email stating they had shipped an order. It did not tell me what medications so that was my first irritation.

After another 10 days and no shipment received, I decided to call them. Oh my-lanta, I ended up on the phone with some guy who told me that there was no record of the medications I take.

He wanted me to give him the list of meds I take so that he could record it, to get it into the system. Just a bit of steam rose from my head.

After an hour of having to repeat myself and then give him time to look up the medication to know what it was for, I had, had enough!

I told him just forget it. Send my scripts back to Walmart. He just said ok.

Then I contacted my doctors office to resend all my meds back to Walmart so that I could get them (since all my scripts had been sent from Walmart to the delivery pharmacy and they no longer had them).

The receptionist said she would put a note to the medical assistant to take care of it. Okay, figured a few days and they should be at Walmart. Wrong……..

I get to Walmart and find out that they only had some of my meds not all of them. Soooo, I recalled my doctors office and requested that the medical assistant call me back when she had time.

A callback came and I explained the issue and was told it would be taken care of. Another two days and I contact Walmart and the meds are ready. When I pick them up one is missing.

Again, another call to the doctors office and I explained that one of my medications was missing. I explained the dosage that I took one dose of 100 mg in the morning but at bedtime I took two 300 mg capsules and it did not get filled.

I went round and round with this numbskull for what seemed like ages. He kept insisting he didn’t see that in my chart. I was like I have been on it for quite some time. He said he didn’t see it, I said look at the orders. Finally, he said he would tell someone and I was not satisfied with that so I said have someone call me.

I finally received a callback from the medical assistant and we got the issue resolved and I got my medication.

After that fiasco, when I was looking at my husbands health insurance account, I noticed he had an order for a medication that he has never taken. It had been filled and paid for by the insurance minus the deductible we pay.

I immediately called the pharmacy and as we talked this associate deep dived into the issue, we found that this order had been made by a doctor in Florida. We live in Pennsylvania. The order had been filled and the deductible paid for at a Walmart in Florida.

Now, since nothing came out of our pocket one would think it is no big deal. To me it is a big deal. How can an error like this happen? On top of that the issue becomes one of if you have a limit on how much you can spend per year before your insurance stops paying, is a concern.

I emailed his insurance company immediately filing an appeal claim for this transaction and wanted to know how this could happen. To date, I have not gotten a response.

We all have had issues with people who come across as complete idiots when trying to deal with issues over the phone, especially when the person taking your call has English that is not their native language. It can become quite irritating trying to get them to understand simple matters.

Then we have all had cashiers who can not make change even when the register is telling them what it is. And land forbid if you say oh here is the change and they look at you like “HUH”, and you tell them just give me a dollar back.

The ones that really irritate me are the ones who you are trying to get information out of on how something works or say a computer and its specs. Dear my-lanta, they ramble on like they know what they are talking about and they haven’t told you anything that you don’t already know.

So, my big question is this, have people gotten dumber over the years or are they just that lazy they just don’t care? Please enlighten me with your thoughts.
